How To Choose A Photographer

How To Choose A Photographer

Finding your wedding day magic maker

I was sitting in a bridal consult with an adorable couple and they just felt overwhelmed with finding a photographer for their day. Bride-To-Be, does this sound like you? The wedding industry is so competitive and there are so many choices! Finding your perfect wedding photographer is very much like going on a date. You want to find someone who you like, feel like they have your back, and trust them to capture the biggest moment in your life, your wedding day! Here are some questions to think about and ask when you’re looking to hire a photographer. Ready to dig deeper?! Let’s do this!

1. Do you feel good about your photographer?

You know that gut feeling you get when you meet someone? When someone just “clicks” with your personality? You should hire a photographer that you feel good about, trust, and can spend an entire day with. I always tell my couples, if you don’t like your photographer, how can you trust them with a milestone in your life? It’s so important that you trust your photographer as a person and in their photography skills.

2. Have you reviewed the contract?

I was asked what photography loopholes should you look for with photographers. My answer is the contract. The contract is set in place to protect both the photographer AND you. If you have questions about the contract, ASK! Also, it’s nice to see what you’re signing up for before you commit.

3. Do they feel prepared to shoot your wedding?

You can find wedding photography prices at almost any price point. However, what makes a photographer “worth” more is the gear they use and the knowledge of wedding photography. Ask your photographer about their wedding photography experience!

4. Do you know what to expect once you sign the contract?

A good photographer will capture your wedding day, a great photographer will be apart of your wedding experience from start to finish. I LOVE being apart of your wedding planning process. From questions about your timeline to picking out bridesmaid dress, to make sure your veil is perfect before you walk down the aisle, I love it all!

5. What do they wear on a wedding day?

I know, this sounds like a silly question, but it is a great way to learn about someone’s character and professionalism. I like to coordinate with your wedding colors to blend in as if I were a guest but stand out enough where you can easily find me. It’s a wedding day! So wedding attire is a must!

6. Are they excited to be apart of your day?

Your photographer is someone you should be so excited to have on your wedding day. They should not only be excited to capture your wedding but to be apart of your love story!

I hope that these tips will help you find your perfect wedding photographer! I’m always happy to answer any questions you may have HERE!
