Posing 101 From Portraits To Weddings

Snuggle Up

I hope you all enjoyed week one of this six-week blog series, Posing 101! If you missed last weeks post, check it out HERE. This week the pose I want to share with you is called Snuggle Up and it is one of my favorites! For this pose your direct your couple goes belly-to-belly facing one another. It’s as simple as that! This creates a more intimate moment between your couple and there are a million things you can do with this pose.

Some of my favorites are:

  • Have the bride wrap her hands around the groom’s neck while his hands are on her waist. Almost like a slow dancing pose. On wedding day you can do this with or without the bouquet. Or you can do a half pose with one hand around his neck and the other hand placed on his chest. Let’s show off that ring!
  • Speaking of dancing, in this pose, have them practice their first dance! This creates movement and is fun for the couples. I normally like to step back and let my couples have a moment during this directive.
  • Have the groom place his nose on her outside temple (basically on her eyebrow furthest away from the camera) while she looks over her shoulder. Then ask her to flash her eyes up at you.
  • Touch noses.
  • Have him kiss her forehead. Then have them go forehead to forehead. I recommend having them close there eyes for this one or they look a little cross-eyed!
  • Ask the groom to take is hand and slowly pull her chin in for a kiss.
  • Have him sweep her hair behind her ear or place his hand on her cheek drawing her close.
  • Ask your couple to go in for a kiss and pull away slowly.
  • Have them hold hands and pull/push each other away. This is a fun one!
  • Have them whisper in each other’s ears why they are so excited to marry each other OR for portraits have him whisper in his sexiest man voice a vegetable in her ear.
  • One of my favorite directions is to simply have them talk to each other while you step back. The chemistry and personalities of the couples come out during this point and you can capture some precious moments!

The possibilities are endless with this Snuggle Up pose. You can get creative and also allow your couples to just be themselves. I’ve had my couples break out into laughter, do their secret handshake, and just be silly. It’s moments you don’t’ want to miss! This pose is perfect for a far away when you want to capture the scenery and for those intimate tight shots!
